Learn from home with structured, personalised online music lessons from Little Musos.
Our online tuition gives students access to experienced teachers, clear lesson structure and supporting practice resources without needing to travel to the studio. Lessons are designed to be practical, engaging and easy for families to manage at home.
We provide guidance on camera position, seating, instrument setup and the learning environment so teachers can clearly see posture, technique and playing position throughout the lesson.
After each lesson, students receive a homework summary outlining what was covered and what to practise before the next session. This may include exercises, worksheets, play-along videos, games and other supporting resources.
How Our Online Music Lessons Work
Our lessons are built around three core areas:
1. Music Reading and Sight-Reading
Reading music gives students the foundation to understand what they are playing rather than relying only on imitation or memory.
Students progressively develop skills in notation, rhythm, counting and musical terminology using structured exercises and specially written material from the Little Musos program.
We approach music reading much like learning a language — through repetition, reinforcement and regular practical application.
2. Technique
Good technique starts with small details.
Our teachers closely monitor posture, hand position, pick or stick grip, coordination and instrument setup to help students build efficient playing habits from the beginning.
As students progress, targeted exercises are introduced to develop accuracy, control, coordination and speed without sacrificing technique.
3. Songs and Repertoire
Students begin applying their skills to music from an early stage.
Our teaching materials include specially written pieces that reinforce new concepts, while students are also encouraged to work toward songs they genuinely enjoy.
Songs are broken into manageable sections and connected back to the underlying techniques, rhythms and musical concepts being studied. This helps students understand what they are playing and become more independent learners over time.
Progression and Grading
Little Musos uses a structured progression system to help students recognise their achievements and work toward clear goals.
Students complete competency checks as they progress through their learning materials and can advance through a series of colour grades. For guitar students, these achievements are represented by coloured picks ranging from White through to Black.
The grading system helps students see their progress, stay motivated and build confidence as their skills develop.
Supporting Practice at Home
Online students receive access to Little Musos practice resources designed to reinforce what they learn during lessons.
Depending on the student’s program, these resources may include:
- play-along videos
- practice exercises
- worksheets
- games and quizzes
- technique demonstrations
- song support material
These resources help students understand what to practise between lessons and give families a clearer picture of the work being completed each week.
